INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
- Inclement weather is determined by Lakeshore Sail Charters, specifically by the captain of the day. This determination is based on criteria of safety and comfort.
- Inclement weather is defined generally as
- Cold temperatures which would render sailing uncomfortable, i.e., could not be remedied by the simple addition of seasonal, condition-appropriate outerwear.
- Rainy conditions which are persistent (not a passing shower)
- Threat of, or actual thunderstorm activity which cannot be avoided safely under sail
- High winds or high wave conditions which would make sailing unsafe.
If Lakeshore Sail Charters cancels a cruise due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions, every effort will be make to reschedule at no charge.
In some situations, it may be unsafe or uncomfortable to sail on Lake Michigan, but temperate. In such a situation, the option of holding the party or occasion dockside, can be negotiated in lieu of rescheduling.
If the customer requests a cancellation for inclement weather which the Captain and Lakeshore Sail Charters judges does not to fit the criteria for inclement weather definition above, then the non-weather related cancellation policies apply.
Do you want a "SAIL GUARANTEE"?
Are you concerned that you won't be able to reschedule?
We would recommend that you add to your purchase, our "Sail Guarantee" option to your charter or tickets.
For 7% additional you will receive a full refund in the event of a weather cancellation by the Captain. The 7% fee, is non-refundable, and must be purchased 2 weeks prior to the event.
